Ricarda-Huch-Schule is a secondary grammar school (Gymnasium) of some 700 students aged 10-19 and about 60 staff. Our student body is quite varied; approximately 25 % are of foreign origin. Our school has been part of EU Comenius and Erasmus+ projects on a constant basis since the late 1990s. It is located right next to ‘Christian-Albrechts-Universität’, our home state`s largest university with more than 20,000 students, which we also cooperate with. RHS is the only school in Kiel with a bilingual branch. Both History and Geography are taught in English from year 7 to 10, which means that foreign language teaching and, of course, international contacts rank very high on our agenda. The second very distinctive feature of our institution is our musical department: our school has got three brass bands, one orchestra and three choirs. Moreover, there is one form in each year in which all children are taught to play an instrument. As our school has long since embraced the principle of inclusion, students with handicaps can be found in nearly every form.
